ABSTRACT

Dermatoporosis is a new concept of an existing disease that refers to extreme skin fragility, or in other words, chronic skin failure. It is characterized mainly by a large loss of the extracellular matrix, the main molecule affected being hyaluronic acid, which affects the barrier, mechanical and skin repair functions. It is classified as primary, being this the most frequent and multifactorial, and the secondary one for indiscriminate use of steroids. The diagnosis is clinical, and the importance of recognizing it and taking preventive measures is to avoid complications as severe as the subcutaneous dissecting hematoma.
