ABSTRACT
The periodontal disease in children with Down’s Syndrome (DS) is developed in early stages and it increases progressively with age. There are many factors that contribute to progress of the periodontopathics: local factors, capillary morphology, and connective tissue disorders. Nowadays, the biggest prevalence in the disease is related to the immunologic system, which is unable to control the bacterial invasion for defect defense in the cellular elements, as well as in the regulation of enzymes. For such a reason, it is important that the dentist knows all the factors that intervene in the appearance of the periodontal disease in children with DS.
