Gastric cancer prevention and Helicobacter pylori eradication

ABSTRACT

Gastric adenocarcinoma remains one of the most common malignancies worldwide. By the moment the diagnosis is made, more than 80 percent of the patients are in advanced stages, which decreases their chances to survive and often makes curative surgeries difficult to perform. The most important cause is Helicobacter pylori. The risk factors, clinical manifestations, the importance of endoscopic screening and treatment of the infection are reviewed in this article.
