ABSTRACT

Barrett's esophagus (BE) is one of the most frequent gastroenterological diseases, resulting from chronic gastroesophageal reflux that causes injuries in the normal esophageal epithelium, which is replaced by metaplasic mucosa, this being more resistant to reflux but causing predisposition to esophageal adenocarcinoma.
