ABSTRACT

Hairs cast is a common condition misdiagnosed worldwide. Hair casts consist of thin, bright, yellowish-white tubular concretions distributed along the hair, also known as pseudonits due to their macroscopic characteristics, and they should be considered as a differential diagnosis during the evaluation of a patient with a presumed diagnosis of nits. In this article, we report the case of an 8-year-old girl with hair casts with partial response to treatment. The relevance of knowing the characteristics and pathophysiology of this condition is highlighted in order to avoid a wrong diagnosis, and consequently inadequate treatments for the patient.
