Psychosocial factors and quality of life in the rehabilitation medicine

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The primary objective of the study is to establish the associations between quality of life’s measure by the patients and the clinical results. Material and methods: We randomly selected 39 patients, ages between 18 and 65 years, in the first visit to the Rehabilitation Center. A questionnaire was fulfilled in the beginning and at the end of the period of study, with the following variables: Fulfillment regime of visits to RHB/Physiotherapy, fulfillment to the treatment in the areas: medical/physiotherapy/address, improvement in articulate balance, muscular balance, neurological and orthopaedics, improvement symptoms/pain/AVD/main activity and questionnaires FIM and SF-36. Results: Were statistically significant: Relation Total FIM pre-test and post-test (p ‹ 0.001). Dimensions of the SF36 pre-test and post-test: physical function, physical roll, corporal pain, social function and emotional roll. We found a statistically significant association in the perspective of recovery evaluated by the doctor as by the patient, in the following variables: Articular Balance and social function, muscular balance and physical function, symptoms and general health, main activity and physical roll. Conclusions: In our study, the results of a rehabilitation program can be better described combining the biological health measurements together with the quality of life assessment.
