ABSTRACT

Introduction: Spermatic cord hematoma rarely induces acute scrotum. Objective: To report the case of a child with acute scrotum by a spermatic cord hematoma. Case presentation: Case of a 13-year-old male patient who was admitted in the emergency service of the General Hospital of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security of Latacunga. He presented intense pain in the left testicle during 8 hours after intense physical activity. After the clinical and sonographic diagnosis of testicular torsion, emergency surgical examination was indicated. In the surgery, a large hematoma was found throughout the spermatic cord path. Hematoma drainage, hemostasis, and Penrose drainage placement plus fixation of the left testicle were performed. Conclusions: The patient evolved satisfactorily and received hospital discharge at 48 hours. He didn't present complications in the follow-up during 6 months from March to August, 2018.
