An approach to the problem of scientific publication in the province of Matanzas

ABSTRACT

Scientific research is the main backbone for seeking solutions to the problems affecting the society, and one of its first objectives is publishing the results. This kind of research, in Medical Sciences is aimed to generalizing knowledge, and, essentially, its last aim should be using those results for the benefit of humankind. Nevertheless, for different reasons health professionals do not publish the results of their researches systematically, causing a deficit of these publications. Assessing this problem the authors decided to make some considerations about this situation. The facts associated to the act of publishing are related with the author, with the organization and with the editorial process. Some actions should be put into practice to revert the current status, with the exigency since the undergraduate level, and strengthening knowledge on scientific research and publication in the postgraduate level, in order to develop the potentiality of each professional and propitiate the research interest.
