The case of a two-week-old newborn who presented with febrile syndrome, rejetion of food, apnea periods, lethargy and hypoactivity is presented. The cerebrospinal fluid showed 171 leukocytes/field, 52% neutrophils, hypoglucorrhachy and hyperproteinemia. Through mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) it was identified Campylobacter jejuni.
His initial management was with ampicillin, cefotaxime and management in intesive care unit. Newborn clinical evolution was favorable, with remission of symptoms and discharged two weeks later.
