ABSTRACT

Measles is a contagious and serious disease caused by a Paramyxovirus. We present the case of previously healthy 11-month-old female patient, originally and resident of Ecatepec, Estado de Mexico, with a complete vaccination schedule for her age. On physical examination with bilateral conjunctival erythema without purulent secretion, bilateral retroauricular and posterior cervical adenopathies, generalized erythematous maculopapular rash, with confluent areas on face, trunk and extremities, not pruritic. Positive result for measles with polymerase chain reaction in real time (RT-PCR).
