Teen pregnancy in municipalities in the northern area of the State of Quintana Roo

ABSTRACT

Teen pregnancy is a visible public health problem that impacts population development, which is why each government seeks to create strategies to reduce it and in cases of pregnancy in childhood eradicate it. Based on the foregoing, the purpose of this study is to analyze the behavior of the specific fertility rate in adolescents aged 15 to 19 years in the municipality of the northern area of Quintana Roo that make up the health jurisdiction number 2, said study conducted with a quantitative methodology through a retrospective cross-sectional study with information obtained from secondary sources. The main results selected that are births in children under 15 years except the municipality of Tulum; Likewise, it is observed that the municipality of Solidaridad maintains the highest figures for both 2015 and 2018, with almost no variation (127.87 births per 1000 women in 2018 vs. 129.08 births per 1000 women in 2015). In conclusion, it is obtained that the study shows a clear reduction in fertility in adolescents, however when a cut is made at the age of 10 to 14 years it is shown that there are still births in this group of adolescents and that it is necessary to eradicate pregnancy In children under 15 years of age.
