ABSTRACT

Septic arthritis is more frequently seen in children than adults, its incidence in children has been estimated in 5.5 to 12 cases by 100.000. Candida spp is ethiological implicated in the arthritis but it is infrequent. Election drug for treatment is amphotericin-B, for two to three weeks, followed by fluconazole during six or more months in order to eradicate the infection and to preserve the joint function. We report a case of an infant with glycogenosis type 1 associated to septic arthritis by C. albicans.
