ABSTRACT

Dermoid cysts are congenital locally invasive benign lesions of slow growth, derived from pluripotent cells. They are classified according to the embryonic derivatives they contain; grouping them in dermoids, epidermoids and teratoids. Here we present a clinical case of a twelve-year-old male patient with sublingual growth diagnosed as a dermoid cyst. Surgical resection by enucleation was performed. The histopathological study reported a teratoid cyst. Clinical follow up from the next 15 months didn’t showed recurrence.
