ABSTRACT

Introduction: The compromised nutritional status is associated with adverse outcomes in cancer patients. The consumption of various foods and nutrients have been reported for the prevention of the risk of CC. Objective: To evaluate the association of the prevention of CC with the dietary intake of antioxidants. Material and method: Cross-sectional, observational, correlational study. The sample was made up of 202 women, they were conducted a survey of frequency of food consumption to see the association of antioxidant intake and CC. Statistical analysis used the student's T test. Results: In women without CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia), higher consumption was observed: Zinc 13.02mg (p = 0.017) 118% of the RDI, vitamin C 31.25mg (p = 0.041) 41% of the RDI, BMI of 26.96kg/m2 differing from patients with lower intake and BMI 25.23kg/m2 (p = 0.018), showing an association between the health status of the women studied and the antioxidants mentioned. Conclusions: An association was found in women without NIC and the consumption of antioxidants, when it was observed to have a protective factor against CC due to a higher intake of foods with antioxidant content unlike those with CIN or CC.
