ABSTRACT

Bacterial meningitis is an infection of the central nervous system that is characterized by an inflammation of the leptomeninges and cerebrospinal fluid, and manifests with fever, headache, nuchal stiffness, but does not occur in all patients. Lumbar puncture is the main diagnostic method, for the analysis of cerebrospinal fluid and to determine the causal germ. Although the incidence has decreased, the delay in early treatment is important can raise the mortality rate and an unfavorable prognosis.
