ABSTRACT

General Thoracic Surgery is one of the youngest specialties in Mexico, with a growing demand for pathology care of this specialty. Population growth and the increase in the life expectancy of Mexicans, together with the lack of schools to train general thoracic surgeons are a current problem in the provision of both private and institutional health services. In the last five years the group of Mexican general thoracic surgeons has managed to unify in several topics of interest for this area in the short, medium and long term with a common vision in continuing medical education and in the training of thoracic surgeons with a greater demand, as well as in the strengthening of the specialty and its projection within and outside the country.
