ABSTRACT

The aim of the present work was to carry out an analysis to the students of the groups of the "Existential Humanistic Psychological Approach" learning unit that forms part of the curriculum map of the psychology degree taught at the Autonomous University of Nayarit The elaboration of the analysis was carried out in the August-December 2017 period. In particular, the social skills developed by the members of these learning units and carried out in their various incursions within the different spheres of human development were analyzed. For Goldstein (1978), social skills are a set of skills and abilities that usually vary depending on people, situations and context, since this triad becomes a constant of interpersonal contact, so that these periodicities of contact they can cause frequent behavioral and / or socio-emotional frictions that force people to face and as much as possible solve interpersonal problems. These skills and abilities are applied in activities from basic to advanced and instrumental. Thus, the purpose of this work was to observe that social competences are more developed, and which can be enhanced. Which is intimately linked to the theoretical-practical content of the learning unit. Now, in line with the above, the course of Existential Humanistic Psychological Approach aims to strengthen the epistemological and conceptual bases of disciplinary knowledge specifically of the existential humanist school that proposes a theory about the self-oriented person and the search for meaning of experience, where man, by nature, tends to self-realization and transcendence beyond its biological substrate, its psyche or its environment. Thus, the first task consisted of a data collection based on the Social Skills test (HH SS) developed by Goldstein (1978), followed by a small survey of open questions in order to carry out an exploratory analysis of the perception of students with respect to social skills. Once the respective data were collected, the trends found by descriptive statistics and semantic networks were analyzed. later and based on the results, an experiential workshop was carried out outside the school environment, this with the purpose of reducing the impact of environmental distractors, and in unfamiliar scenarios for the participants in order to encourage teamwork and enhance less developed skills. Consistent with the above, the professional training of psychology students of the Autonomous University of Nayarit is based on a constructivist approach, since it pays special attention to the development of attributes that allow students to insert themselves coherently into the labor market, so that they are able to adapt to the changes and demands of society and the labor field. Hence the importance of stimulating the development of human capabilities and potential, in order to incite in the future professional attitude of overcoming, search for technological innovation and constant preparation.
