Rehabilitation after rescue surgery in an oncological patient: adjuvant or main treatment? Apropos of 2 cases

ABSTRACT
Both the oncological disease and its therapies are not exempt from complications, and may lead to physical deconditioning and limitation in activities of daily living, especially in patients with tumors of the musculoskeletal system, where the recovery of functional capacity, should be a primary therapeutic objective. We present 2 patients undergoing rescue surgery: woman with osteosarcoma in the right femur; operated with humerus grafting and man with fractured metastatic humerus, treated by elbow arthroplasty. They are included in the rehabilitation program, which aims to improve both the articular path, pain control and functionality, through assessment at the beginning and at the end of the treatment (BA, WOMAC, MEPI, VAS). In both cases (as in the literature) the importance of Rehabilitation is evidenced as an essential and fundamental pillar in the integral management of the cancer patient, and specifically of patients with musculoskeletal tumors.
