ABSTRACT
Oral health in patients with visual deficiency are increased due to the lack of the capability of identifying pathology in the early stages and to take action for it´s solution. It is important for the dentist to accept the visually impaired children with a positive attitude instead of emphasizing the disability, he should incorporate the other senses for the treatment plan, it should incorporate the restorative measures and oral prevention. Such a program demands the teaching of oral hygiene techniques, as educational program where the kid will learn which are the tissues of teeth and the evolution of dental caries as well as the benefits the proper dental hygiene and the need for a proper nutrition. But, how to teach those patients when most of the material is audiovisual? The purpose of this paper is to present a tact supported program with two main purposes; first, to reduce the patient stress because through this the restorative procedures will be explained and second, to fulfil the educational preventive program. This will allow the possibility to teach tooth brushing techniques, explain dental anatomy as well as the importance of caries prevention, oral health and other pathologies.REFERENCES
