ABSTRACT

Acromegaly is a pathology related to an excessive production of growth hormone. Among its main manifestations there could be found hyperhidrosis, visceromegaly, carpal tunnel syndrome and changes in connective tissue. It is associated with comorbidities such as cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases or neoplasms. The diagnosis is based on the quantification of IGF-1 and with a growth hormone suppression curve with glucose, the latter being the gold standard. There are several types of treatment, which are divided into medical and surgical, which must be individualized for each patient. With the presentation of this clinical case and its respective review based on bibliography, it is intended to report on this pathology not so well known in daily medical practice.
