ABSTRACT

Idiopathic aplastic anemia is an anemia due to bone marrow failure that appears when it is no longer producing an adequate number of erythroid precursors and peripheral blood pancytopenia, it can occur at any age, but is more frequent in patients over 50 years. We report the case of an 8-year-old patient who presented with ecchymosis, epistaxis, lymphadenopathy, dyspnea, orthopnea, and sleep apnea. Hematological, biochemical and immunological examinations were performed, respectively. The diagnosis of aplastic anemia was confirmed by aspiration puncture of the bone marrow. We present the clinical picture, diagnosis and timely treatment of this pathology, especially because it is rare in children and because it has genetic studies.
