Heart failure in the elderly

ABSTRACT

Heart failure is a clinical syndrome due to the structural or functional inability of the heart to expel enough blood to meet the metabolic requirements of different organs and tissues. There are several underlying causes and triggers that favor the onset of heart failure. The aging in the population and the increase in life expectancy of patients with some basic heart disease have led to an increasing incidence of this disease in the population over 65 years.
