Acute mesenteric ischemia. Endovascular treatment. Unique case report

ABSTRACT

Acute mesenteric ischemia is an uncommon entity, is due to abrupt interruption of arterial or venous flow. Their course is usually dramatic and its prevalence has increased due to the population's progressive aging. The complications of the Acute mesenteric ischemia are frequent and serious, for what is considered a surgical emergency since it has a rate of more mortality to 70 %. For it, it is important to know the possible risk factors and the patient's personal antecedents to achieve an early diagnosis and an aggressive treatment, before the intestinal ischemia is irreversible. In Cuba it is scarce the scientific evidence on the diagnosis and handling of this illness. For what we expose the case of a patient that underwent treatment effective endovascular.
