Management of the Open Abdomen with a modification of the Bogota Bag technique.

ABSTRACT

The open abdomen is conceptualized as the surgical technique in which case the closing of the abdominal cavity is deferred after a laparotomy surgery, it has its precisely indication and these indications include the intraabdominal sepsis. One way of management for the open abdomen is the Bogota Bag, this way is one of the most popular technique between the general surgeons due to its benefits. The general subject of this paper is to explain the modest experience in the management of the open abdomen with the Bogota bag technique in a particular case with a torpid initial evolution and a quickly recuperation after the use of this procedure. The propose modification includes the use of a low pressure vacuum system that helps to move out the pus from the abdominal cavity and does not promote the occurrence of others complication. The showed technique was able to improve the clinical situation of the patient and it also improved the high morbi-mortality index of the primitive procedure.
