Among 200 children studied by the cardiologist in 78 children were identified pathological murmurs. An integral study of the children was done; besides the clinical history and the physical exam of the children, electrocardiography and echocardiography. When the cardiologist believe it necessary a heart catheter study was done.
Results. The systolic murmurs were identified in 48 (62%), most of them were grade III (51%) and IV (18%). The x-ray showed an increased of vascular lung flow in 52 cases and it was diminished in four. Heart catheter study was practiced in two. The main anomalies were septal defects: ventricular in 34 (44%), auricular in 6 (7.7%) and the persistence ductus arteriosus in 24 (31%).
Comments. Emphasis is done about the importance for the diagnosis of a good clinical history and the careful exam of the patients.
