ABSTRACT
An epidemiologic study was conducted in the UNITEC’s orthodontic’s clinic to be able to compare the prevalence rate of impacted canines in the mexican population against the prevalence rate in the American and European populations.
Of 601 patients that requested orthodontic treatment in the clinic, 35 had impacted canines. The prevalence rate of this condition is 5.8% which can be considered very significant. lt indicates that this is a common condition in patients requesting orthodontic treatment.
In addition different characteristics related to the condition of impacted canines are described and preventive measures for this condition are also suggested.
