Text Extraction

Background: Myxedema coma is an endocrinological emergency, consequence of the severe and prolonged depletion of thyroid hormones. Myxedema coma is an infrequent pathological entity whose decrease in cases is related to the early detection and timely treatment of hypothyroidism, the evolution will depend on a high index of suspicion and the rapid onset of treatment.
Clinic case: Four cases of female patients with an age range of 32 to 55 years with myxedema coma, successfully treated with multiorgan support and levothyroxine enterally, are reported.
Conclusions: The treatment recommendation is parenteral levothyroxine; in Mexico, intravenous levothyroxine is not commercially available, so enteral levothyroxine is a safe and effective option if dosage adjustment is taken into account.
