ABSTRACT

Premature membrane rupture is one that occurs before the start of labor, can occur before or after 37 weeks of gestational age. It occurs in a significant percentage of pregnancies and is one of the main causes of maternal and neonatal mortality and prematurity. The cause is unknown, but it is related to multiple risk factors. The diagnosis is mainly based on the visualization of the leakage of fluid from the cervix, and if there are doubts it can help with additional diagnostic tests. The management of premature rupture of the membrane will depend mainly on the weeks of gestation and the viality of the product.
