ABSTRACT

The purpose of the present bibliographic compilation is to describe the factors which contribute to tobacco smoking and its social and economic repercussions.
The principal components isolated from tobacco combustion and the cellular changes induced by these substances and its repercution on hard tissue and mucous membranes of oral cavity, just as the periodontal disease which fundamental cause is the stage large bacterial infection and that the smoking be come a risk factor.
