Basis for the epidemiological study of an outbreak

ABSTRACT

The population demands of medical care increase before an outbreak of disease in a particular population, in a community, or in a region, as well as in the unexpected cases of an illness in a factory, school, hospital or other institution. In such circumstances, for control of the outbreak, it is necessary to investigate the possible sources if infection and the transmission mechanisms of the disease. This brief communication try to introduce of the basic elements for the study of an outbreak regarding to time, place and people, in order to identify the population at risk and the factors implied in the illness.
