ABSTRACT

This article presents the development of modern amalgam alloys, a characterization of their clinical behavior according to composition and physical form, and a discussion of proper manipulation of the materials. It concludes with a brief discussion of adhesive amalgam restorations, and observations about potential mercury toxicity from amalgam.
