ABSTRACT
The objective of this article is to show the use of overdentures as an opinion of treatment in a patient partially or totally edentulous.The idea of leaving isolated root residue or fix implants in the maxillary and build prosthesis over them is more than 100 years old.
The use of abutments in overdentures rise up the retention and stability and is of great help in patient with little residual edge or that had problem of adaptation to the prosthesis because of the constant removal.
There were placed 4 precision Dalla-bona abutment (IMTEC Corp.), 2 for implants in the maxillary, and 2 root cement-retained in the jaw, having the first 2 a disadvantage against the second: The price.
The abutments were placed directly in the model before been processed, activating the plastic ring before the placement of the acrylic resin.
The use of overdentures in the treatment of partially or totally edentulous patients keep the percentage of bone structure level lowering or even stopping the degree of atrophic bone.
