ABSTRACTIntroduction: Management processes in health systems and services have their particularities, reason why it becomes more complex; the relations between the components of a system, the particular form and the degree to which their interactions, reactions, and synergies are shaped allow us to talk about differential characteristics or particularities of certain type of system.
Objective: To demonstrate the importance of the particularities of the systems and services as a tool to improve the quality of health care.
Development: The main advantage of the particularities is the contribution they do for better policy, strategy, program design, interventions, products, processes and services; contributing to the knowledge about the critical, significant and systemic points, to which such actions should be directed. As for the particularities, the more contributing were the social character of their production, the continuity as a organizational premise, universally essential service, high pressure social; high dynamics of paradigms and knowledge; and privileged position of the lender.
Conclusions: The particularities of the systems and services consolidate the development of a health system focused on the needs of the patient and their families and guarantee a continuous improvement of the quality of services.
