ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the case of a traumatized patient subjected to reanimation thoracotomy in the emergency room.
Setting: Third level health care hospital.
Description of the case: Male patient, 56 years old, with firearm wound in the face, entrance orifice at the right superior maxillary, cardio-respiratory arrest at the time of admittance, short pre-hospital time and vital signs during transportation, penetrating cranial-encephalic traumatism manifested by otorrhagia, epistasis, without exit orifice.
Conclusion: The procedure allowed to establish cardiac frequency in a fatally wounded patient, although the patient did not survive.
