Introduction

In early 2020, a new virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) spread globally causing the coronavirus disease or COVID-19. The rate of new infections varies by day and can be monitored in real time.1 With respect to the current situation in Latin America, confirmed cases of COVID-19 have increased significantly. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared this situation a pandemic due to the alarming levels of spread of the disease and especially due to the complications that can arise after infection.
