Pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal septum

ABSTRACT
Background: Pleomorphic adenomas are the most common tumors of the salivary
glands, but uncommon in the nasal cavity.
Clinic case: We describe the case of a middle-aged man who presented to our
ENT service with a history of unilateral nasal obstruction and epistaxis; with a volume
enlargement of the lateral nasal wall, whose imaging studies and biopsy suggested a
pleomorphic adenoma. He was treated by surgical removal of the mass.
Conclusions: Nasal pleomorphic adenoma is a benign tumor of the salivary glands
that contains epithelial and mesenchymal tissue; it can cause unilateral, slowly progressive
nasal obstruction.
