Validation of Simplified Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System (TISS-28) in Mexican population. Multicenter study

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the Simplified Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System (TISS-28) in Mexico.
Design: Prospective multicentric study.
Setting: Four ICUs of a tertiary hospitals of Mexico City.
Patients and methods: Three hundred eighty five were enrolled. Demographic variables, and scores of APACHE II, TISS-76 and TISS-28 were registered daily.
Interventions: None.
Results: A total of 1,298 pairs of TISS-28 and TISS-76 measurements were made. The value of TISS-28 was 26.5 ± 8.5 (range 5-61) and TISS-76 26.5 ± 8.8 (range 3-62). The Pearson coefficient was 0.929 (p ‹ 0.01).
Conclusion: A good correlation between TISS-28 and TISS-76 was observed. TISS-28 may be applied in our country.
