ABSTRACT

Reimplantation is the repositioning of an amputated body segment in its entirety. It is a challenge since it requires the training of a multidisciplinary team, selection of the patient, performing the procedure, and postoperative follow-up so that it can have an adequate rehabilitation and a prompt reincorporation to working life. A 37-year-old male patient is presented who, on 02/11/2019, was a victim of aggression by third parties with a forceful short object, which determines a left-hand amputation, at the carpal level. After four hours of evolution, a reimplantation of the hand was performed in five hours of surgical procedure. Adequate follow-up is carried out by external consultation.
