ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the QoL (quality of life) of patient’s discharged from the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and its association to sociodemographic and Medical Care Variables, in Toluca Mexico. Methods: Prospective cohort study. Euroqol scale was applied to evaluate QoL in 5 ways: movement, selfcare, daily activity, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression previous to ICU intake and 3 months after discharge, collected data was sociodemographic (age, sex, schooling and work) and medical care (diagnosis at hospital arrival, diagnosis from intake and discharge from ICU, discharge prognosis from ICU, APACHE II and days in ICU) were collected during stay in ICU and after 3 months from discharge. Results: Out of 60 patients; 28.3% passed away. Previous QoL 43.3% was bad, and 3 months afterwards 35% was regular. Age, length of stay, occupation, APACHE II, prognosis discharge and diagnose at admission had statistically significant association with QoL. R Spearman, ANOVA and Chi Square were used in statistical analysis. Conclusions: Some sociodemographic and medical care variables had statistically significant association with QoL.
