Background: the development of a formative dynamics oriented to upgrade the statistics as an analytical tool to sustain the practice of medicine is reclaimed. Development: a logical historical analysis was carried out in the process of statistic formation of the medicine professional. This analysis goes through three stages according to the following indicators: the approach in the teaching learning of statistics, the systematization of statistical contents in the formation of the medical doctor and the application of the statistical contents in the solution of problems in the in-service medical training. These stages are: the descriptive statistics formation, the inferential statistics formation and the procedural-technological statistic formation. The year 1962 was delimited as a temporal genesis for from the time on different transformations were brought in Cuban higher education, mainly in the Higher Medical Education. Conclusions: in the process of statistic formation of the medicine professional a gradual transit has 158 prevailed towards didactic definitions represented in the statistic by a mastery of procedimental tendencies over the evaluative tendencies and the shortage of spaces for its application.
