ABSTRACT

Gorlin-Goltz syndrome is a autosomic dominant disorder characterized by a carcinogenic predisposition and multiple developmental defects. Clinical features including more than ten nevoid basal cell carcinomas, three or more palmar or plantar pits, calcification of the falx of the brain, skeletal developmental abnormalities and a positive family history are pathognomonic among others. The presence of odontogenic keratocyst tumors is decisive for the diagnosis and for satisfactory treatment. We present the case of a child with Gorlin-Goltz syndrome diagnosed and successfully treated. A multidisciplinary approach including Genetics, Stomatology, Maxillofacial Surgery and Dermatology Services is essential for the proper diagnosis and treatment, moreso in patients with genetic syndromes.

Key words: Gorlin-Goltz syndrome, odontogénico keratocyst tumors, nevoid basal cell carcinoma, multidisciplinary approach.
