ABSTRACT

Objective: To report the case of an ectopic pregnancy in the abdominal cavity that caused intestinal occlusion.
Setting: Second level health care hospital.
Description of the case: We report a clinical case of a female patient of 35 years of age with an abdominal pregnancy of 24 weeks of gestation, and clinical manifestations of intestinal obstruction. She was subjected to surgery through laparotomy, releasing fibrous tissue, adherences, and extracting the mummified fetus and the placenta. We discuss the clinical characteristics, the diagnostic tools, and surgical treatment alternatives for this condition.

Key words: Intestinal obstruction, ectopic abdominal pregnancy.
