FRAGMENTO

Objetivo: comparar los hallazgos histológicos en niños y adultos con hepatitis C crónica (HCC). Diseño: casos y controles. Sitio: hospital regional de 3er nivel en Seattle, WA. Pacientes y métodos: se incluyeron 21 niños y 52 adultos con infección de menos de 20 años de duración, sometidos a biopsia hepática. Dos patólogos especialistas en hígado revisaron las biopsias y utilizaron la escala de Knodell para medir actividad inflamatoria y fibrosis. Se analizaron género, duración de la infección, niveles de virus C y genotipo.
