FRAGMENTO

La mielopatía degenerativa canina, o parálisis posterior del Pastor Alemán o radiculomielopatía, es una enfermedad neurológica progresiva que afecta a perros de talla grande principalmente. Es frecuente en el Pastor Alemán y ocasional en otras razas como la Siberian Husky, Rotweiler, Afgano, Gigante de los Pirineos y Collie entre otras. No existe predisposición de sexo.
Esta enfermedad tiene alta frecuencia en perros de 6 a 11 años de edad; sin embargo, Longhofer et al. describieron 2 casos en perros Pastor Alemán jóvenes con edades de 6 y 7 meses.
