Absceso retrofaringeo y mieloma múltiple: caso clínico

RESUMEN

Se reporta el caso de un paciente de 80 años de edad con un absceso retrofaríngeo sin antecedente de traumatismo o de infecciones del tracto respiratorio superior, asociado a mieloma múltiple. El paciente no presentó un cuadro típico de la enfermedad hematológica, solo manifestó anormalidades laboratoriales de los tiempos de coagulación y pérdida de peso. El drenaje del absceso se realizó exitosamente mediante punción con catéter guiado a través de un ecosonograma de cuello, posteriormente se administraron antibióticos de amplio espectro. Este es el primer reporte de la literatura de un caso de mieloma múltiple y absceso retrofaríngeo.
