ABSTRACT

It is published a clinical case of retropharyngeal abscess associated to multiple myeloma in a man of 80 years old without previous high tract respiratory infections neither previous traumatism. This patient had an atypical clinical case of multiple myeloma because only showed abnormalities of clot laboratorial test and clinically showed weight loss. The handling was successful, because the abscess was almost totally drainage by ultrasound guided needle aspiration and sterilized by antibiotic therapy. To our knowledge, this is the first report of multiple myeloma and retropharyngeal abscess both together in the medical literature.
