Reconstrucción aloplástica de la articulación temporomandibular. Reporte de dos casos con el sistema Lorenz/Biomet

RESUMEN

La reconstrucción aloplástica de la articulación temporomandibular es una opción terapéutica en alteraciones severas articulares, en donde el tratamiento conservador no es posible o ha fracasado, reportándose buenos resultados con controles a largo plazo. En este artículo reportamos dos casos de reconstrucción total de la articulación temporomandibular con el sistema Lorenz/Biomet en dos pacientes con anquilosis temporomandibular unilateral, siendo de los pocos casos reportados en México, en donde lo común es la reconstrucción mediante toma y aplicación de injertos autólogos. Se hace mención además de algunos aspectos de importancia en relación a la reconstrucción protésica temporomandibular.
