Control del dolor postoperatorio en el paciente geriátrico

FRAGMENTO

Los pacientes de edad avanzada presentan desafíos únicos para su manejo, como son los siguientes:

a) Durante el período perioperatorio tienen un mayor riesgo de una disminución abrupta en la reserva fisiológica.
b) La presencia de estrés quirúrgico producida por el procedimiento quirúrgico en sí o eventos como una infección severa puede conducir a la falla orgánica.
c) Es también común la presencia de delirio postoperatorio y disfunción cognitiva.
