Tratamiento percutáneo de un osteoma osteoide con ablación por radiofrecuencia. Reporte de un caso

RESUMEN

Antecedentes: El osteoma osteoide representa de 10 a 20% de los tumores benignos de hueso. Generalmente es pequeño, suele ser doloroso y los AINES disminuyenlos síntomas. Eventualmente requiere resección en bloque o curetaje; sin embargo existen técnicas que erradican la lesión de manera percutánea, como la ablación con radiofrecuencia.
Caso clínico: Paciente de 19 años de edad, con dolor crónico en la pierna derecha que se diagnosticó como osteoma osteoide. Se trató con salicilatos pero debido a intolerancia se le hizo ablación por radiofrecuencia que fue exitosa y evolucionó sin síntomas. La radiofrecuencia es un método que da buenos resultados el tratamiento del osteoma osteoide.
Discusión: La ablación por radiofrecuencia es un método establecido de tratamiento para osteoma osteoide con menor exposición, rehabilitación más rápida, complicaciones y contraindicaciones.
