RESUMEN

El embarazo es una etapa en la cual se debe poner atención especial en el cuidado de la higiene oral. Los cambios fisiológicos y anatómicos que experimenta el organismo de la mujer durante la gestación aumentan el riesgo de que se desarrollen caries y enfermedad periodontal, entre otras enfermedades. Por lo que se requiere de recomendaciones y lineamientos que conduzcan al profesional de la salud oral, para utilizar e implementar medidas adecuadas tanto de prevención como de tratamiento durante el embarazo.
